The Giddy Goat Pinot Noir 2021
Year: 2021
Name: The Giddy Goat
Varietal: Pinot Noir
Vineyard: Prospect Hill, Adelaide Hills
Jono and Shaz Shaw’s Prospect Hill property is as suitable for growing Pinot Noir as it is picturesque.
This very small batch wine was carefully hand selected row by row by both grower and winemaker. Like it’s grower, this has genuine integrity; the incredible fruit was even just beautiful to look at.
Whole bunch inclusion (made possible by the natural acidity) and higher mid-ferment temperatures add some candied cherry, almond, and other volatiles to the otherwise bright red fruit.
The Giddy Goad is pretty-well a spice rack with a range from dessert to savoury and it’s picked up a lovely floral yeast component from 5 months on gross (post pressing) lees in barrel.
Tasting Notes: This Pinot Noir is a complete spice rack, with a range from dessert to savoury. Winemaker Jono Knowles says, ‘its got bags of fruit’...natural acidity and strawberries and cream on the exhale.
Pairing: Something sweet - like vanilla bean white chocolate or a cinnamon scroll.
Cellaring: Good until 2040...if you can wait that long.
Alc %: 12.3
Winemaker: Jono Knowles
